Το Report of the International commission to inquire into the causes and conduct of the Balkan wars είναι ένα έγγραφο που δημοσιεύτηκε από το Ίδρυμα Carnegie για την Διεθνή Ειρήνη.
Στην εγγραφή Αρ.27 διαβάζουμε τα παρακάτω:
Έχω την τιμή να ενημερώσω την Αυτού Εξοχότητα ότι ένας υπάλληλος του προσωπικού μου που έσταλθει στο Δεμίρ-Ισσάρ, αναφέρει τα εξής:
Ο Βούλγαρος Λοχαγός της χωροφυλακής Meligov (Velikov;) συνέλαβε τον Μητροπολίτη Κωνσταντίνο, τον ιερέα Παπασταύρου, τον πρόκριτο Σαπαζαχαριζάνου και πάνω από εκατό άλλους Έλληνες, οι οποίοι φυλακίστηκαν στα όρια του βουλγαρικού σχολείου. Τον Ιούλιο 7 και 8, οι Βούλγαροι στρατιώτες και χωροφύλακες τους σφαγίασαν και επίταξαν Τούρκους
χωρικούς για να τους θάψουν στο περίβολο του σχολείου, έξω από τον τοίχο στην ανατολική πλευρά. Ενας αξιωματικός του προσωπικού μου διέταξε την εκταφή των σωμάτων για να επαληθεύσει τα γεγονότα. Αυτός βρήκε τους σωρούς σωμάτων των θυμάτων σε βάθος άνω των δύο μέτρων.
Επιπλέον, αξιωματικοί και στρατιώτες παραβίασαν(βίασαν/κακομεταχειριστηκαν) διάφορα κορίτσια. σκότωσαν ακόμη και ένα, με την ονομασία Αγαθή Θωμά, κόρη ενός κηπουρού, γιατί τους αντιστάθηκε.
Τα καταστήματα της πόλης έχουν λεηλατηθεί και καταστραφεί, με όλα τα έπιπλα των σπιτιών των συμπατριωτών μας, εκ των οποίων μερικοί σώθηκαν από τους Τούρκους που τους φυγάδευαν στα σπίτια τους. Η πόλη γενικά παρουσιάζει ένα θλιβερό θέαμα καταστροφής.

ARMY, dated July 12.
I have the honor to inform your Majesty that an officer of my staff sent to Demir-His-
sar, reports as follows:
The Bulgarian captain of gendarmerie, Meligov (Velikov?) arrested the bishop, Mgr.
Constantine, the priest Papastavrou, the notable Sapazacharizanou, and over one hundred
other Greeks, who were imprisoned in the confines of the Bulgarian school. On July
7 and 8 the Bulgarian soldiers and gendarmes massacred them, and requisitioned Turkish
peasants to bury them in the precincts of the school, outside the wall on the east side. An
officer of my staff ordered the exhumation of the bodies in order to verify the facts. He
found the heaped bodies of the victims at a depth of over two meters.
Further, officers and soldiers violated several girls; they even killed one, named Agatha
Thomas, the daughter of a gardener, because she resisted them.
